Use Zoom with AI via MCP
Decisions get made in meetings – yet all that often remains is a calendar entry. Zoom provides an official MCP server that lets CompanyGPT work with meeting data, recordings and transcripts, always within the permissions of the signed-in user.
What is Zoom?
Zoom is a communications platform from Zoom Communications. Beyond the familiar video conference, the portfolio covers webinars, telephony, team chat and cloud recordings with automatic transcription. In many organizations, Zoom is the default tool for internal alignment, customer calls and training sessions.
That creates a substantial body of spoken knowledge that has been hard to access: finding one statement from a call three weeks ago used to mean replaying the recording. This is where Zoom becomes valuable as a data source for AI agents – transcripts, meeting metadata and recordings can be searched, summarized and combined with other systems.

How to Connect Zoom to CompanyGPT
Zoom operates an official MCP server reachable via streamable HTTP at mcp.zoom.us/mcp/zoom/streamable. CompanyGPT connects to this endpoint directly – no additional third-party infrastructure is involved and no copy of your meeting data is created.
Authorization happens at user level via OAuth with granular Zoom API scopes. Each employee signs in with their own Zoom account, and the agent then operates with exactly that account’s permissions. The scopes you grant determine which areas – meetings, recordings or transcripts, for instance – are reachable at all. Zoom does not support dynamic client registration: an OAuth app with the appropriate scopes, registered in the Zoom App Marketplace by your Zoom administration, is required.
Inside CompanyGPT, your administrators decide by role and group who may use the Zoom integration. Access can be limited to project management and sales, for example, while other departments never see the integration offered at all.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Zoom
Follow up on calls
After a customer call, the agent summarizes the transcript, captures commitments and open items, and drafts a follow-up email for review.
Prepare for the next meeting
Ahead of a recurring appointment, an assistant pulls together what was discussed last time – including participants and the points that were left open.
Spot patterns across customer calls
Customer success reviews several call transcripts together and identifies recurring requests or complaint drivers without replaying every recording.
Frequently Asked Questions
Zoom and AI – the most important answers
Does Zoom have an official MCP server?
Yes. Zoom provides its own official MCP server, reachable via streamable HTTP at mcp.zoom.us/mcp/zoom/streamable. No server installation of your own is required.
How do users sign in to the integration?
Through user-level OAuth: you authorize access with your own Zoom account and confirm the requested Zoom API scopes. Because Zoom does not support dynamic client registration, your Zoom administration must first register an OAuth app with the appropriate scopes in the Zoom App Marketplace. The agent then acts solely with that account's permissions.
Does the AI see every recording in our company?
No. Only what the signed-in Zoom account can access is visible, and even then only within the granted scopes. Other users' recordings remain inaccessible.
Can we limit access to read-only?
Yes. Through the Zoom API scopes selected during authorization and the per-agent tool permissions in CompanyGPT, functionality can be restricted to searching, reading and summarizing.
Where is the meeting data processed?
CompanyGPT runs in your own cloud tenant and retrieves data directly from the Zoom MCP endpoint – no intermediaries involved. The data protection assessment of Zoom itself continues to follow your existing Zoom contract.
