Use Trello with AI via MCP
Kanban boards are quick to explain, which is why they show up everywhere from editorial planning to onboarding. Atlassian offers an official, available MCP server for Trello, letting CompanyGPT work with boards, lists and cards directly.
What is Trello?
Trello is Atlassian’s kanban tool. Work is represented as a card that moves through lists on a board; cards carry descriptions, checklists, due dates, labels, attachments and comments. Because the entry barrier is low, Trello is found not only in IT teams but across marketing, sales, HR and administration.
That very spread is what makes Trello interesting for AI agents: boards often hold the most current state of a process even though they are rarely analysed formally. An agent can search cards across several boards, surface stalled work and create new cards straight out of an ongoing conversation.

How to Connect Trello to CompanyGPT
Trello has an official MCP server from Atlassian at mcp.trello.com/v1. It is available and connected via streamable HTTP – no server of your own and no intermediate service required.
Sign-in happens through OAuth: each user connects their own Trello account and authorizes exactly one workspace in the process – consent is granted per workspace, not account-wide. Support for multiple workspaces is planned according to Atlassian. Within the authorized workspace, the user’s Trello permissions continue to apply unchanged. One notable operational detail: the server exposes no delete operations, so cards or lists cannot be removed through this integration.
Your CompanyGPT administrators enable Trello by role and group and select which tools an agent may use. That makes it easy to distinguish a read-only reporting agent for management from a write-enabled agent for the project team.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Trello
Review the editorial board
Marketing asks which pieces are stuck in review this week and which cards are sitting there without a due date.
Check the onboarding board
HR queries which steps are still open for new joiners and receives them grouped by person and start date.
From meeting to board
Agreed actions from a set of minutes become new cards in the right list – including description, label and due date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Trello and AI – the most important answers
Does Trello have an official MCP server?
Yes. Atlassian provides an MCP server at mcp.trello.com/v1, addressed via streamable HTTP. No installation of your own is required.
Can the AI delete cards or boards?
No. The official server exposes no delete operations. Cards can be read, searched and – depending on what you enable – created or updated, but accidental removal is not possible through this route.
Which boards are visible to an agent?
During OAuth sign-in the user authorizes exactly one workspace; only its content is reachable for the agent. Within that workspace, the connected account's Trello permissions continue to apply unchanged. Support for multiple workspaces is planned according to Atlassian.
Is this the same access path as Jira and Confluence?
No. Jira and Confluence are connected through the Atlassian Rovo MCP endpoint, while Trello has its own. In CompanyGPT both integrations can run side by side and be enabled differently per team.
How is usage governed inside the company?
Through role and group management in CompanyGPT. Your administrators decide who sees the Trello integration at all and which tools are available to an agent.
