Use TOPdesk with AI via MCP
In service management, the time goes into gathering context, not into the fix itself. For TOPdesk there is a community MCP server built on the REST API, which we run as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment – keeping service data in your own tenant.
What is TOPdesk?
TOPdesk is a service management platform from the Dutch vendor TOPdesk in Delft, with a strong presence in German-speaking markets as well. It covers IT service management with incidents, changes and assets as well as facility and HR services – widely used by universities, public authorities, hospitals and mid-sized IT organizations. The platform runs as SaaS or as an installation in the customer’s own data center.
For AI agents, the case data is what matters: tickets with their history, assignment, category and attachments. All of this is available through the documented REST interface, so questions about processing status or comparable earlier cases can be settled in conversation instead of by filtering through overview screens.

How to Connect TOPdesk to CompanyGPT
TOPdesk does not offer an official MCP server. What exists is the community server dbsanfte/topdesk-mcp (published on PyPI as topdesk-mcp), which can create, update and escalate incidents and converts attachments to Markdown for further processing. It works entirely through the open REST API and requires no extension inside TOPdesk.
The server runs as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. Authentication uses a TOPdesk API account with an application password via basic auth, configured through TOPDESK_BASE_URL and TOPDESK_API_TOKEN. We create a dedicated account whose permissions are scoped precisely to the intended case types and data areas – so access is governed in the source system from the start.
The route to your instance depends on the operating model. With TOPdesk as SaaS, the container addresses the API directly. If the platform runs as an on-premises installation or virtual appliance inside your own network, we set up connectivity together with your IT team. As an alternative to the community server, we can also build the integration directly on the REST or OData interface when you prefer a tightly limited scope.
Note for on-premises operation: CompanyGPT runs in your own Azure tenant – so your on-premises network can be connected directly: via a site-to-site VPN (Azure VPN Gateway) or ExpressRoute between your corporate network and the virtual network of your CompanyGPT environment. The system does not need to be publicly reachable; we set up the connection together with your IT team.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with TOPdesk
Bundle the context of an incident
Before work starts, the service desk has the history, affected assets and comparable earlier cases pulled together for a given ticket.
Capture tickets cleanly
From a free-form email or phone note, the assistant produces a structured incident with category, description and a suggested priority.
Reporting for service management
For the monthly service report, an agent condenses volume, focus areas and notable clusters into a text draft that only needs reviewing.
Frequently Asked Questions
TOPdesk and AI – the most important answers
Does TOPdesk have an official MCP server?
No. There is the community server topdesk-mcp, which can create, update and escalate incidents and converts attachments to Markdown. It uses only the open TOPdesk REST API.
Where does the MCP server run?
As a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. Credentials and case data therefore stay in your own cloud tenant, with no third-party service involved.
We run TOPdesk as SaaS – what is required then?
In SaaS operation an API account with an application password is enough; the container reaches the interface directly. A secured network connection is only needed for on-premises or appliance installations inside your own network.
How do we limit what the AI can access?
Through the permissions of the API account created in TOPdesk and through the tools enabled in CompanyGPT. On top of that, your administrators decide by role and group who may use the integration at all.
Can the assistant modify incidents too?
Technically the server supports creating, updating and escalating. Whether that is used is your decision: we recommend a read-only profile to start with and add write tools step by step.
