Use sipgate with AI via MCP
In many companies telephony is the last island without a link to the rest of the stack – even though it holds usable data on reachability and customer contact. For sipgate, a community MCP server built on the public REST API exists, and we run it as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment.
What is sipgate?
sipgate is a cloud telephony provider based in Düsseldorf that delivers phone systems, VoIP lines, SMS, fax and related communication services as SaaS. The company is also known for its open developer platform sipgate.io, which lets teams embed telephony functions into their own applications.
For AI agents, sipgate is relevant in two directions: as a data source for call history and reachability, and as an action channel for sending short notifications by SMS or checking settings such as call forwarding. Both run through the documented, scope-based REST API.

How to Connect sipgate to CompanyGPT
sipgate does not operate an official MCP server. What is available is the community server BlackMac/sipgateio-mcp, which exposes SMS, calls and account administration through the public sipgate API. sipgate itself additionally documents MCP usage in combination with n8n for its own AI agents – a route we can take when you already rely on automation.
We run the MCP server as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. Authentication uses a personal access token consisting of token ID and token; OAuth2 is available as an alternative. The key element here is sipgate’s scope model: a token only carries the permissions explicitly assigned to it, for example reading call history without the right to send SMS.
As sipgate is a cloud service, regular internet access is sufficient. In CompanyGPT, your administrators release the integration specifically to the roles that need it – often reception, inside sales or service. In addition, sipgate’s push API can hand call events to downstream automations via webhook.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with sipgate
Understand reachability
Team leads ask how call volume is distributed across the week and when calls went unanswered – as a basis for staffing decisions.
Short notices by SMS
Once approved, an agent sends an SMS notification, for instance an appointment confirmation to a customer who is hard to reach by email.
Check call routing
Ahead of the holiday season, the back office has the active call forwarding rules reviewed and flags where adjustments are needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
sipgate and AI – the most important answers
Does sipgate have an official MCP server?
No. There is the community server sipgateio-mcp, which exposes SMS, calls and account administration via the public API. sipgate itself also documents MCP usage through n8n for its own AI agents.
How is access secured?
Through personal access tokens with scopes: each token only carries the permissions you assign. A read-only token for call history cannot send SMS. OAuth2 is possible as well.
Where does the MCP server run?
As a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. The sipgate token therefore stays in your own cloud tenant, and no additional service sits between CompanyGPT and sipgate.
Can the AI place calls on its own?
The community server builds on sipgate API functions such as initiating calls and sending SMS. Which of these tools you enable is your decision – without approval it stays with read-only analysis.
How does call data fit with data protection?
Connection data is personal data and falls under your company's telephony practices, including any works council agreements. We therefore narrow access via token scopes and CompanyGPT roles as tightly as the use case allows.
