NX sits at the start of many product development processes in automotive, aerospace and high-end machinery – tightly coupled with Teamcenter as the PLM backbone. No official MCP server exists so far; we use available community servers together with the documented interfaces and run the connection self-hosted in your CompanyGPT environment.
What is Siemens NX?
Siemens NX is a high-end CAD, CAM and CAE system designed for complex product development. It is typically operated together with Teamcenter, the Siemens PLM system that manages bills of material, change processes and releases. Operation is traditionally inside the company network; NX X adds a cloud-managed variant.
For AI agents NX is interesting in two directions. First, the PLM side holds structured information that concerns many departments – part masters, revision states, releases. Second, automation through the NXOpen API is a craft of its own: assistants can help designers and methods engineers turn recurring procedures into scripts.

How to Connect Siemens NX to CompanyGPT
As things stand, Siemens does not offer an official MCP server for NX. Several community projects exist, among them NX_MCP, which works with a running NX instance through NXOpen automation, and nxopen-mcp, built as a knowledge server around the NXOpen API. Both run as local stdio servers and do not come from Siemens.
For enterprise use that means the CAD-side part of the connection is bound to an actual NX installation – sensibly on a system provided for that purpose inside the company network rather than on individual workstations. For data that many departments need, the route through Teamcenter is usually more robust: its SOA and REST services deliver part and change information without NX having to be open. We build an MCP integration from those interfaces.
The MCP server runs as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. Sign-in uses accounts in the company network with clearly defined rights; licence and Teamcenter authentication remain entirely under your control. Which tools are released is agreed with your design and PLM owners.
Note for on-premises operation: CompanyGPT runs in your own Azure tenant – so your on-premises network can be connected directly: via a site-to-site VPN (Azure VPN Gateway) or ExpressRoute between your corporate network and the virtual network of your CompanyGPT environment. The system does not need to be publicly reachable; we set up the connection together with your IT team.
