Use SAP SuccessFactors with AI via MCP

SAP SuccessFactors combines core HR, talent management and learning in a single cloud suite. SAP ships no ready-made MCP server specific to SuccessFactors – the official MCP route runs through SAP Integration Suite; otherwise we build the integration individually on the documented OData APIs.

What is SAP SuccessFactors?

SAP SuccessFactors is the cloud HCM suite of SAP SE, headquartered in Walldorf, Germany. Employee Central provides the core system for employee master data and organizational structures, complemented by modules for recruiting, performance, compensation and learning. As the successor to classic SAP HCM, it is SAP’s strategic HR solution and is widely used by large enterprises and upper mid-market companies in the DACH region.

For AI applications, the organizational view is especially valuable: who belongs to which unit, how positions and reporting lines are structured, which qualifications are recorded. This information answers many follow-up questions from business units and HR – provided access stays tightly limited to released fields, because all of it is employee data.

How to Connect SAP SuccessFactors to CompanyGPT

SAP ships no ready-made MCP server specific to SuccessFactors; the MCP servers SAP publishes cover developer tooling such as Fiori, CAP, UI5, MDK and ADT. At the platform level an official MCP route does exist: in SAP Integration Suite, an MCP server can be created as a first-class artifact from a managed API, an HTTP endpoint or an RFC destination – surfaced in API Management as the MCP Gateway (as of 25 August 2026, source: SAP Help Portal, “Design APIs and MCP Servers”, help.sap.com). For agents built in Joule Studio, SAP additionally generates MCP servers for business capabilities and manages their lifecycle itself; that path is designed for Joule agents.

For CompanyGPT we prefer the Integration Suite route wherever you already run it: the required OData entities are exposed there as an MCP server, and CompanyGPT connects over streamable HTTP. Otherwise we connect the suite’s official interfaces directly. Third-party offerings exist but need to be assessed separately for enterprise use – SAP notes that operational responsibility for third-party or self-hosted MCP servers rests entirely with the deploying organization (source: SAP Architecture Center, “Third-Party MCP Access to SAP Solutions”, architecture.learning.sap.com).

SuccessFactors provides extensive OData v2 and v4 APIs, among others for Employee Central and Recruiting; the corresponding specifications are documented in the SAP Business Accelerator Hub. Authentication uses OAuth2 with the SAML bearer assertion flow against your tenant. From the required entities we derive MCP tools with a clearly defined field scope. In SAP-centric landscapes it is often practical to route access through SAP BTP or the Integration Suite, where governance, logging and certificate management are already established.

Enabling API access and the associated permission roles is done by your SuccessFactors team. Inside CompanyGPT, your administrators then use roles and groups to control which user groups may use the integration – with HR data, usually a deliberately small circle.

Typical Use Cases

How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with SAP SuccessFactors

Clarify organizational questions

Managers and specialists ask about responsibilities, reporting lines or role assignments instead of working through org charts manually.

Prepare recruiting metrics

HR reporting has figures on open positions and application progress compiled and explained for management meetings.

Keep qualifications in view

When staffing projects, the assistant identifies which recorded qualifications and training records exist in the relevant area.

Frequently Asked Questions

SAP SuccessFactors and AI – the most important answers

Is there an official MCP server for SAP SuccessFactors?

None that is ready-made and product-specific – the MCP servers SAP publishes cover developer tooling such as Fiori, CAP, UI5, MDK and ADT. At the platform level there is an official route: in SAP Integration Suite an MCP server can be created as an artifact from an API, an HTTP endpoint or an RFC destination, surfaced in API Management as the MCP Gateway (as of 25 August 2026). If you run Integration Suite we use that route; otherwise we connect the suite's OData interfaces directly.

How does the individual integration work?

We determine the OData entities required, describe them as a specification and provide them to CompanyGPT as MCP tools. Access is set up via OAuth2 with SAML bearer assertion against your tenant.

Can we route the connection through SAP BTP?

Yes. In landscapes where the Integration Suite is already in use, that is often the more practical route, because logging, certificates and approval processes are governed there already.

Which permissions does the integration need?

Only read rights on the agreed entities. Your SuccessFactors team configures the API role accordingly, so access stays limited to the released field scope.

How is employee data handled?

CompanyGPT runs in your own cloud tenant and calls the SuccessFactors APIs directly. Scope, purpose and user group should be agreed with data protection and employee representatives before rollout, and documented.
