Use Sage with AI via MCP
Sage 100 and Sage X3 hold the commercial core processes together in many mid-sized companies. No MCP server exists for them yet, so we build the CompanyGPT integration individually on the web services of the respective Sage line.
What is Sage?
Sage is an international business software vendor headquartered in the UK with a German office in Frankfurt. Two ERP lines matter most in the German-speaking market: Sage 100 for small and mid-sized companies, covering inventory management, financial accounting and light manufacturing, and Sage X3 for the upper mid-market with a focus on process and discrete manufacturing. Both are traditionally run on the customer’s network or hosted by a partner.
For AI work these systems are attractive because they carry document and posting data at a level of detail few people fully track day to day. An agent allowed to query item masters, open items or order backlogs shortens the path for sales, purchasing and accounting – without anyone having to operate an additional reporting tool.

How to Connect Sage to CompanyGPT
There is currently no MCP server for Sage 100 or Sage X3 – neither from the vendor nor as a dependable community project. That is not a blocker: both lines ship documented interfaces that an MCP integration can sit on cleanly.
Sage X3 provides REST and SOAP web services plus a GraphQL API; Sage 100 offers OData and SData interfaces and can be extended through the AppDesigner. Together with your Sage partner we review which objects your use cases require, define a service user with an appropriate permission scope, and expose the interfaces as MCP tools inside your CompanyGPT environment. The underlying principle: any API with a machine-readable description can be made available as an MCP integration.
Authentication depends on your setup – for Sage X3 typically login/basic auth or OAuth 2.0 on the web services, for Sage 100 through user or service accounts. If your Sage system is already connected to an automation platform such as n8n, that can serve as an additional route; innFactory operates n8n as a separate managed service on request. Because Sage installations usually run on the customer network or in partner hosting, establishing the network link is part of the project.
Note for on-premises operation: CompanyGPT runs in your own Azure tenant – so your on-premises network can be connected directly: via a site-to-site VPN (Azure VPN Gateway) or ExpressRoute between your corporate network and the virtual network of your CompanyGPT environment. The system does not need to be publicly reachable; we set up the connection together with your IT team.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Sage
Order information for inside sales
Instead of searching several screens, inside sales asks for status, quantity and date of a customer order and gets the values back with the document reference.
Prepare a purchasing round
Purchasing condenses order history and current stock for an item group to assess requirements for the next ordering cycle.
Keep track of receivables
Finance has overdue receivables grouped by customer and turned into a briefing for the dunning process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sage and AI – the most important answers
Is there an MCP server for Sage?
Not as things stand. Neither Sage itself nor the community provides a usable MCP server for Sage 100 or Sage X3. The connection is therefore built individually on the existing web services.
Is an AI connection possible at all then?
Yes. Sage X3 offers REST, SOAP and GraphQL interfaces, Sage 100 provides OData and SData. On that basis we create an MCP integration that is used in CompanyGPT like any other and released per role.
Which Sage products does this cover?
In the DACH context primarily Sage 100 and Sage X3. The approach is comparable for other Sage products as long as they ship documented interfaces – we clarify that in the initial discussion.
How much effort does such an integration take?
It depends on the number of objects and on whether write access is required. We usually start with a few clearly scoped queries and extend once the departments can judge the benefit.
What happens to the data during a query?
The connection runs between your CompanyGPT environment and your Sage system, with no additional broker in between. CompanyGPT itself runs in your own cloud tenant.
