Use PROXIA MES with AI via MCP
PROXIA collects the data at the machine and the terminal that shows utilization, schedule adherence and downtime patterns. No MCP server exists for it; the link to CompanyGPT is created as a project integration on the available interfaces inside the customer network.
What is PROXIA MES?
PROXIA Software AG, based in Ebersberg near Munich, develops a modular manufacturing execution system covering machine and shop floor data collection, dispatching and detailed scheduling, OEE monitoring and shop floor management. Its audience is mid-sized manufacturers, and it is particularly common in machining operations. The system is traditionally installed inside the customer network.
From an AI perspective PROXIA is interesting because machine and order data are recorded consistently over long periods. Anyone asking why a machine group fell behind plan last quarter will find the answer in that data – so far, however, only through analyses inside the specialist system. An assistant can take the question, retrieve the matching data and explain the result in plain language.

How to Connect PROXIA MES to CompanyGPT
There is no MCP server for PROXIA, neither from the vendor nor as a community project. Connecting it to CompanyGPT is therefore a project integration on the existing interfaces: PROXIA provides the XI gateway as an integration layer towards ERP and surrounding systems, complemented by web service interfaces; machine connectivity itself runs over OPC UA.
In delivery we first clarify with your IT team and your PROXIA contact which interfaces are active in your installation and which data objects are useful and approved for the assistant. On that basis we develop an MCP server that encapsulates exactly those queries and run it as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. Sign-in uses a dedicated service or database account within the customer network.
Because PROXIA runs inside the production network, network connectivity is part of the project and is aligned with your security policies. Where a direct coupling is not desired, an automation gateway such as n8n can act as a controlled intermediate layer – in that case only the records defined there flow towards the assistant.
Note for on-premises operation: CompanyGPT runs in your own Azure tenant – so your on-premises network can be connected directly: via a site-to-site VPN (Azure VPN Gateway) or ExpressRoute between your corporate network and the virtual network of your CompanyGPT environment. The system does not need to be publicly reachable; we set up the connection together with your IT team.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with PROXIA MES
Explain utilization
Production management asks about the utilization of a machine group last month and receives the figures together with a pointer to the periods with the largest deviations.
Prepare the shop floor round
Ahead of the daily shop floor meeting, the status of the key metrics and open items is summarized automatically into a short agenda.
Check schedule risk
Work scheduling asks which orders in the dispatching board are at risk of missing their dates and gets a sorted overview with the affected operations.
Frequently Asked Questions
PROXIA MES and AI – the most important answers
Is there an MCP server for PROXIA?
No. As of August 2026 neither a vendor nor a community MCP server is available. Connecting AI assistants is done as a custom integration via the XI gateway and web service interfaces.
How does such an integration project run?
We clarify with your IT team and your PROXIA contact which interfaces are available and which data the assistant should see. From that we build an MCP server, operate it inside your CompanyGPT environment and extend it with further queries step by step.
Does the MES have to be exposed to the internet?
No. Access runs through a secured network link between your CompanyGPT environment and the system in the production network. Public reachability is neither required nor intended.
Can the assistant change orders in PROXIA?
Only if you explicitly want that. We recommend starting read-only; write functions are defined individually, tested and limited through the rights of the service account.
Who in the company may use the integration?
Your CompanyGPT administrators control that via roles and groups. For example, only production management can access the PROXIA integration while other departments are not offered it at all.
