Use Odoo with AI via MCP
Odoo brings CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing and accounting together in one open suite, which makes it an unusually rich data source for an AI assistant. Several actively maintained open-source MCP servers exist, and we run them inside your own CompanyGPT environment.
What is Odoo?
Odoo is an open-source business suite from the Belgian vendor Odoo S.A. with more than 40 integrated apps: CRM, sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, projects, HR, website and accounting all work on a shared data model. It is available as a free Community edition for self-hosting and as an Enterprise edition on Odoo Online, on the Odoo.sh PaaS platform or in your own data center. Adoption across the German-speaking mid-market has grown steadily, supported by a large network of implementation partners.
Because customer communication, quotations, stock movements and journal entries live in the same database, an AI agent can answer cross-departmental questions that would otherwise require querying several systems. The uniform model-and-field concept also makes the data easy to address – an advantage over systems with historically grown special-purpose interfaces.

How to Connect Odoo to CompanyGPT
Odoo S.A. does not operate an official remote MCP server. The open-source ecosystem here is unusually mature, though: erpipe-org/mcp-odoo (multi-instance support, gated writes) and ivnvxd/mcp-server-odoo (shipping its own Odoo module) are two actively maintained options, alongside further projects such as odoo-mcp-pro.
We pick the right server with you and run it as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. The connection between the AI assistant and Odoo therefore stays entirely within your tenant – no externally operated broker is involved. Authentication uses an Odoo API key generated per user; technically the server talks to the External API over XML-RPC or JSON-RPC.
That API key is also your access control: the server sees exactly the models and records the underlying Odoo user is allowed to see through groups and record rules. Write operations can be limited to selected models or switched off entirely. For Odoo Online and Odoo.sh a plain HTTPS connection is enough; if you run Odoo on your own network without public exposure, a secured network link is added.
Note for on-premises operation: CompanyGPT runs in your own Azure tenant – so your on-premises network can be connected directly: via a site-to-site VPN (Azure VPN Gateway) or ExpressRoute between your corporate network and the virtual network of your CompanyGPT environment. The system does not need to be publicly reachable; we set up the connection together with your IT team.

Frequently Asked Questions
Odoo and AI – the most important answers
Is there an official MCP server from Odoo?
Odoo S.A. does not operate an official remote MCP server. Several actively maintained open-source servers exist, however, such as erpipe-org/mcp-odoo and ivnvxd/mcp-server-odoo, which are suitable for productive use.
Where is the MCP server hosted?
As a container inside your own CompanyGPT environment. Communication with your Odoo instance therefore stays within your tenant, with no additional provider in between.
How is access restricted?
Through the configured Odoo user and its API key. The agent only sees models and records that this user may see via groups and record rules in Odoo. Write tools can additionally be disabled.
Does this work with the Community edition?
Yes. The External API used here is available in both Community and Enterprise editions. Differences come mainly from which apps and fields are active in your installation.
What applies to a self-hosted Odoo instance?
If your instance is not publicly reachable, we set up a secured network connection between CompanyGPT and Odoo together with your IT team. For Odoo Online and Odoo.sh the regular HTTPS connection is sufficient.
