Microsoft OneDrive is the Microsoft 365 cloud storage for personal and shared files. Technically it builds on the same platform as SharePoint, adding device synchronization, version history and granular sharing of individual files or folders.
For AI agents, OneDrive is where daily work takes shape before it moves into official repositories. Anyone who wants analyses, drafts or presentations retrieved and interpreted therefore needs access that mirrors individual sharing precisely.

How to Connect Microsoft OneDrive to CompanyGPT
The connection is established by companyM365, our addon for Microsoft 365. It is operated as an MCP server over streamable HTTP inside your CompanyGPT environment and reads files through Microsoft Graph. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is not required.
Every user signs in with their own Microsoft account via Entra ID. The agent then acts on their behalf and sees only their OneDrive plus the files shared with them. Your IT registers the application once in the Entra ID tenant and grants the necessary consent; releasing the integration to specific roles and groups is handled in CompanyGPT.
Microsoft’s own route is Work IQ OneDrive from the Agent 365 catalog – a server of its own, separate from the Work IQ server for SharePoint. It is in preview, requires a Copilot license per user and, according to the catalog, is limited to the user’s personal OneDrive. If files should be made available directly in the AI environment independently of Microsoft 365, companyFILES is an additional option.

Does the agent access every employee's OneDrive?
No. Access is tied to the signed-in user's account. Visible are that user's own OneDrive and files explicitly shared with them.
How is the integration set up?
companyM365 is provisioned in your CompanyGPT environment and registered once as an application in Entra ID. Employees then connect their Microsoft account themselves, and your administrators release the integration to the desired groups.
Are files permanently copied into the AI?
No. Content is retrieved from OneDrive for the request at hand. Making documents permanently available inside the AI environment is a separate, deliberate step you design via companyRAG or companyFILES.
What does this mean for data protection?
Your files stay in your Microsoft 365 tenant and CompanyGPT runs in your own cloud tenant. Since OneDrive holds personal working files, a clear rule on which roles may use the integration is advisable.
