Use Mailchimp with AI via MCP
Mailchimp brings campaigns, audiences and customer journeys together in one place – a rich data set for AI agents. An actively maintained community MCP server exists for the marketing platform, and we run it as a container directly inside your CompanyGPT environment.
What is Mailchimp?
Mailchimp is a platform for email marketing and marketing automation that has been part of Intuit since 2021. Its scope goes well beyond the classic newsletter: audiences and segments, customer journeys, landing pages, forms and CRM-style contact features. The vendor is headquartered in Atlanta; across the DACH region, Mailchimp is widely used by small and mid-sized companies.
For AI agents the platform is interesting because contact data, campaign history and behavioural signals converge there. Anyone asking how a journey is performing, which segment is growing or which subject lines worked recently would otherwise have to line up several reports. Through an MCP connection, an agent answers those questions conversationally and combines the numbers with content from other systems.

How to Connect Mailchimp to CompanyGPT
Mailchimp does not currently offer an official MCP server. For the Marketing API, an actively maintained community server is available instead: github.com/damientilman/mailchimp-mcp-server exposes roughly 227 tools of the Marketing API.
We operate that server as a container inside your CompanyGPT environment. MCP traffic therefore never leaves your tenant, and no additional third-party service is involved. Authentication against Mailchimp uses a Marketing API key; the platform also supports OAuth 2.0 as an alternative. The key is stored exclusively in your environment.
Because this is a community project, we review the server before go-live, pin a fixed version and limit the enabled tool scope to what your use cases actually require. Who may use the integration is controlled by your administrators in CompanyGPT via roles and groups. For simpler automations, a gateway through n8n, Make or Zapier is an alternative, since Mailchimp ships ready-made connectors there.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Mailchimp
Campaign performance in conversation
Marketing asks how a journey developed over recent months. The agent pulls figures on opens, clicks and unsubscribes and puts outliers into context.
Understand your segments
Before a send, the agent clarifies how an audience is composed, which segments have grown recently and where overlaps exist.
Draft subject lines and variants
Based on past campaigns, the agent proposes subject lines and preheaders that the team turns into drafts and tests inside Mailchimp.
Frequently Asked Questions
Mailchimp and AI – the most important answers
Does Mailchimp have an official MCP server?
Mailchimp does not currently offer an official MCP server. For the Marketing API we therefore use an actively maintained community server that we operate ourselves.
Why do you host the MCP server yourselves?
Because that keeps the server inside your CompanyGPT environment. API key and traffic stay in your tenant instead of passing through external infrastructure, and we retain control over the version in use.
Is a community server safe enough for enterprise use?
We review the code before deployment, run a pinned version in a container and enable only the tools your use cases require. Updates are applied deliberately, not automatically.
What permissions does the connection have?
Permissions follow the stored Marketing API key and the enabled tool scope. Reporting only needs read access; write actions can remain fully disabled.
How does this look from a data protection perspective?
CompanyGPT runs in your own cloud tenant and calls the Mailchimp API directly. Processing by Mailchimp itself continues to be governed by your existing contract with the vendor – the MCP connection does not change that.
