CompanyGPT Integration MCP server: streamable HTTP

Use Google Slides with AI via MCP

Presentations are a communication format of their own inside companies – and at the same time an archive where well-crafted knowledge disappears. Google runs a dedicated MCP server for Google Slides, currently in developer preview. CompanyGPT connects via OAuth with a client ID belonging to your company.

What is Google Slides?

Google Slides is the presentation tool in Google Workspace. Slides are created in the browser, edited collaboratively and kept consistent through master layouts; content from Sheets can be linked so charts follow updates. Like all Workspace documents, the files live in Google Drive.

From an AI perspective, Slides is interesting in two directions. Existing decks are a dense source of already-distilled statements – positioning, figures, lines of argument. And in the other direction, a slide outline can be assembled from existing material so the real work starts at design and refinement rather than at a blank slide.

How to Connect Google Slides to CompanyGPT

Google provides the MCP endpoint slidesmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1, addressed via streamable HTTP. Like the other Workspace servers it is hosted by Google and classified as a developer preview: usable, but with possible changes to the feature set before general availability.

Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 with a client ID your company creates in its own Google Cloud project. Authorization is per user, so only presentations shared in Drive are accessible. Whether an agent merely analyses decks or may also create slides is your decision in CompanyGPT.

Combined with Drive and Docs this creates an end-to-end path: find material, distil content, prepare the result as a presentation. Which roles and groups may use that path is controlled centrally by your administrators.

Typical Use Cases

How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Google Slides

Mine existing decks

Ahead of a pitch, the agent finds earlier presentations on the same topic and summarizes which arguments and figures have already been used.

Build a slide outline

A concept document becomes an outline with slide titles and key messages – the team then handles design in the familiar master template.

Refresh training material

People development has an onboarding deck checked for slides containing outdated information and receives suggestions for the revised version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Google Slides and AI – the most important answers

Is there an official MCP server for Google Slides?

Yes. Google operates it at slidesmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1 via streamable HTTP. It is part of the Workspace MCP servers and is currently available as a developer preview.

Does the AI produce finished, designed presentations?

What is realistic is the content groundwork: structure, slide titles, key messages and text blocks. Design, imagery and polish remain the team's job – based on your master layouts.

Which presentations does an agent see?

Only those the signed-in Google account has access to in Drive. Sign-in is per user and existing sharing rules continue to apply unchanged.

What should we keep in mind about the developer preview status?

The server is usable, but Google may change tools and behaviour before general availability. Low-risk use cases such as research and outline suggestions are therefore a good place to start.

How do Slides, Docs and Drive work together?

Drive covers finding material, Docs the work on prose, Slides the presentation format. All three integrations can be enabled individually and combined in CompanyGPT.
