Use Canva with AI via MCP
Presentations, social posts and one-pagers have long stopped being the sole domain of the design team. Canva provides an official MCP server at `mcp.canva.com/mcp` that lets AI agents in CompanyGPT work with designs and templates.
What is Canva?
Canva is a browser-based design platform from Australia. Users create presentations, social media posts, documents, videos and print materials from extensive template libraries. In companies, the brand kit adds another layer: stored logos, colours and fonts keep colleagues without design training inside the corporate identity.
In an AI context, Canva sits at the end of the chain: an agent can prepare copy and structure and hand off into the design step, instead of content being copied out of a chat by hand. Equally, the existing stock of designs can be searched when nobody remembers where a particular template lives.

How to Connect Canva to CompanyGPT
Canva operates an official remote MCP server at mcp.canva.com/mcp, connected via streamable HTTP. Sign-in uses OAuth with the user’s Canva account, so team membership and folder permissions from Canva continue to apply unchanged.
Access to the MCP server is partly controlled – not every account and plan receives it automatically. During setup we check together with you whether your Canva environment is enabled and align the necessary steps with your Canva administrator.
Inside CompanyGPT, your administrators enable the integration specifically for the teams that actually design – typically marketing, sales and internal communications. An agent’s scope can be narrowed to the tools each use case requires.
Typical Use Cases
How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with Canva
Find templates again
Instead of browsing folders, marketing asks for the template last used for customer presentations and gets a direct pointer to it.
From outline to draft
The agent works out structure and copy for a presentation in chat and then hands the result over into the design step in Canva.
Keep track of campaign assets
Before launch, the team gets an overview of which assets already exist for a campaign and which formats are still missing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Canva and AI – the most important answers
Does Canva have an official MCP server?
Yes, Canva provides its own remote MCP server at mcp.canva.com/mcp, addressed via streamable HTTP. Self-hosting is not offered for it.
Can every Canva account use the integration?
Not necessarily – access to the MCP server is partly controlled. We clarify this during setup together with your Canva administrator before the integration is enabled in CompanyGPT.
Which designs can an agent see?
Only those of the account connected via OAuth, including the team folders that account is entitled to. Canva's visibility rules remain in place unchanged.
Does our corporate design stay intact?
Yes. Design still happens in Canva, where your brand kit with logos, colours and fonts is stored. The agent supports content and preparation but replaces neither your templates nor your approval process.
Who in the company gets access?
Your CompanyGPT administrators control that via roles and groups. Typically the teams already working with Canva get access, while everyone else never sees the integration in the first place.
