CompanyGPT Integration MCP server: streamable HTTP

Use awork with AI via MCP

awork bundles projects, tasks and time tracking for teams that run many initiatives in parallel. The vendor operates an official MCP server covering the entire API – CompanyGPT connects to it directly, with no extra infrastructure.

What is awork?

awork is a project management tool from awork GmbH in Hamburg. Teams plan projects with lists, boards, timelines and workload views, log working time directly on the task, and evaluate it afterwards per project or client. It is common in agencies, consultancies and internal project teams that need to keep capacity and budgets in view; hosting takes place in the EU.

For AI use, awork is interesting on two counts: it holds the current state of work – who is working on what, what is overdue, how much time went into a project – and it is a system people write to a lot. Creating tasks, filling in descriptions, logging time: exactly the small maintenance steps that get postponed in daily business and are far quicker to handle by voice or chat.

How to Connect awork to CompanyGPT

awork operates an official, vendor-hosted MCP server at https://api.awork.com/api/v1/mcp, addressed via streamable HTTP and covering the complete awork API. Its documentation lives at developers.awork.com. CompanyGPT connects to this endpoint directly – no third-party infrastructure is involved and no server of your own has to be operated.

Two sign-in routes are available: OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, or a bearer token / API key from your awork account. In both cases the permissions defined in awork remain in force – an agent sees exactly the projects and tasks the account in use can reach in awork itself.

On the CompanyGPT side, your administrators release the integration by role and group and define which tools are available. Access can therefore be limited to reading and summarizing, while write operations stay with a smaller group.

Typical Use Cases

How AI agents in CompanyGPT work with awork

Starting the week in a project team

The agent lists overdue tasks and those due this week per project and turns them into an agenda for the Monday meeting.

Assessing workload

Project management asks how many open tasks and logged hours fall on a project and spots missing capacity early.

Tasks from meeting notes

Notes from a client meeting become ready-made tasks with title, description and due date, created directly in the right awork project.

Frequently Asked Questions

awork and AI – the most important answers

Does awork have an official MCP server?

Yes. awork operates its own MCP server at api.awork.com/api/v1/mcp, reachable via streamable HTTP and covering the complete awork API. No installation of your own is required.

How do our employees sign in?

Either via OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration or with a bearer token from the awork account. Which route fits better depends on whether the integration is used personally or as a team account.

Does the AI see every project in the company?

No. The MCP server respects the existing awork permissions. An agent only reaches the projects and tasks that the account in use can access in awork itself.

Can the AI write to awork?

Since the server covers the entire API, write operations are possible. In CompanyGPT the set of tools can be restricted per agent – for example to reading and summarizing without write access.

Where does the data travel during a request?

Between your CompanyGPT instance in your own cloud tenant and the awork MCP endpoint. No additional intermediary is involved; the assessment of awork as a processor continues to follow your contract.
