On data protection we read Kling’s privacy policy and user policy:
- Controller: The privacy policy names Kling AI Pte. Ltd.; the terms are a contract with this company and its affiliates, governed by Singapore law with arbitration in Singapore.
- Storage and transfers: According to the policy, data is stored on servers in Singapore; support, engineering and moderation teams are located worldwide, and transfers to other countries and to group companies are provided for.
- EU angle: The GDPR, an EU representative and standard contractual clauses are not mentioned in the version we reviewed.
- Usage rights: According to the user policy, Kling does not claim ownership of content but takes a non-exclusive licence to inputs and outputs that also covers training AI models. Revocation can be requested by email. Separate terms apply to commercial use and labelling.
We found no official partnerships with European cloud providers and no EU-hosted variant. Third-party platforms that offer Kling models are not automatically official partners; check contracting party, hosting and data flows there separately.
Model lifecycle
Kling releases new generations every few months: 1.0 (June 2024), 1.5/1.6 (late 2024), 2.0 (April 2025), 2.1 (May 2025), 2.5 Turbo (September 2025), Video O1 and 2.6 with audio (December 2025), 3.0 and 3.0 Omni (February 2026) and 4.0 (October 2026). Kling itself describes versions 2.0 and 2.1 as largely superseded. We found no shutdown dates; for production API use, pin model IDs and watch the changelogs.
Integration with CompanyGPT
Kling is a cloud-only offering from Kuaishou and not part of CompanyGPT. If you want to integrate video AI into your processes, we advise on selection, data protection review and governance. The innFactory AI Gateway lets you control access, budgets and model providers centrally in your tenant.
Our recommendation
Kling 4.0 is an interesting tool for marketing, social media, prototyping and storyboards: long clips up to 30 seconds, audio and many references. For companies in the DACH region, however, data protection and rights questions remain: servers in Singapore with no documented EU region, no GDPR statements in the privacy policy, a licence over your content that includes model training, and unclear rules on commercial use per plan. We recommend using Kling only with non-critical content without personal data, excluding faces and voices of real people, and having data protection and legal teams approve its use.
